Honolulu, HI – J. Uno & Associates, Inc. announces the promotion of Brett Katayama to vice president.  In this capacity, he will oversee operations and estimates and will be responsible for the maintenance and growth of existing customer relations as well as new employee training.  Katayama joined the firm in 2010 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Katayama’s experience includes providing cost engineering and estimating services for over 500 projects in Hawaii, Japan, Okinawa, Guam, and Samoa.  A graduate of Punahou School and current resident of Nuuanu, Katayama is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME).  Katayama is also the Programs Chair of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Hawaii Chapter.

“I feel very confident in Brett’s ability to manage the office operations,” said Joseph Uno, president of J. Uno & Associates.  “His leadership skills, not only within the office but externally in the community and in his professional organizations, is a testament to Brett’s character,” Uno added.

J. Uno & Associates, Inc. is a Hawaii-based construction cost consulting firm founded in 1989. The firm specializes in providing construction cost estimating services to architects and engineers during the design process. Additional services include providing review of construction change orders, value engineering, and expert witness services.
